Scary Movie 6
Running time: 100 mins
Comedy
The outrageous horror parody franchise returns with Scary Movie 6, the long-awaited revival of one of the most successful comedy series of the 2000s. The original Scary Movie, released in 2000 and directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, became a global box-office sensation by hilariously spoofing the biggest horror hits of the time—particularly Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer and The Blair Witch Project. Over the years the series has grossed more than $890 million worldwide, cementing its place as one of the most recognisable parody franchises ever made. The new instalment marks the first film in the series in over a decade and reunites several members of the original creative team, bringing the franchise back to its roots of fast-paced, outrageous comedy. As always, Scary Movie 6 gleefully skewers the biggest horror films of the modern era, taking aim at the latest wave of supernatural thrillers, psychological horror and viral streaming hits. Expect outrageous gags, absurd twists and the kind of rapid-fire parody that made the original films so popular with cinema audiences. With horror enjoying a huge resurgence at the box office in recent years—from The Conjuring universe to modern hits like Smile and M3GAN—there has never been more material for the franchise to lampoon. Packed with shockingly silly humour and knowing references to modern horror tropes, Scary Movie 6 promises a riotous return for one of cinema’s most anarchic comedy series.
